The 8 Billion Hour Pledge is a global movement led by the International Environmental Guardianship (IEG) and supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Together, we are mobilising one hour of verified action for nature from every person on Earth — transforming collective time into measurable progress for the planet.
HOW IT WORKS ?
Turning hours into verified impact
At the heart of the Pledge are 8BH Points — each representing one verified hour of stewardship for nature. Points are issued under the 8BH Pledge Points Protocol, governed by IEG with the UNDP as General Secretariat.
These points recognise and fund the enabling work that makes climate and biodiversity outcomes possible.
Every Point, every hour, and every dollar is transparently tracked in the IEG Time Registry, ensuring accountability and integrity.
